Dinner at Senya Sake & Dining

Went for a date night with my lovely colleagues after work.
We tried to have date nights at least once a month but so far this is only our third night outings within 6 months.
Usually after work, we rushed to get out of KL city before it gets too jam to leave.

On our third night out, we've decided to try Senya Sake & Dining which is located in Jalan P. Ramlee, 50250 Kuala Lumpur.

It's super near my office but due to the traffic, waze brought us to turn a big round to go there.
Traffic in KL is terrible.
 Sigh.

But this place lighted up my night.
We park in the building where Senya is located.
It's an office building but it's open to visitors and since it is already after working hours so we easily found a parking inside.

It's a very modern looking Japanese restaurant and I'm impressed by the layout of this restaurant.
 Not the typical Japanese restaurant.
 Orders were made through Ipad.

We ordered to share. So that we can try more stuffs.

The highly recommended Hokkaido PorkDon!
It's super yummy.
The rice texture is just nice (I just love Japanese and Korean rice).
The pork has mixture of fats and lean meat. Oishi!!

The salmon sashimi.
Sliced thickly and it is so fresh.
So satisfying!

Salmon Belly Sashimi.

The sashimi is just pure happiness.

It's a must to order sushi in a Japanese restaurant isn't it? :p

So here's the Teriyaki Salmon Avocado Roll.
Buttery texture from the avocado with the fresh salmon slice.
It's awesome.
Enough said. 😂

The Marble Beef Steak Teppanyaki.

I'm not so much of a beef person but the beef's texture is just nice.
Of course we had to prioritize in finishing the beef first because leaving it on the hot pan will only overcook the yummy meat.

Their matcha soft ice-cream.
It's nothing special but dinner is never complete without desserts.
So we each have one matcha ice-cream on the cone.
It's texture is like soft serve ice-cream with green tea flavor.
The cone reminds me of my schooling years where people sells ice-cream with a bike.
It's cheap ice-cream but it has a unique flavor that I'll never forget.

Total bill cost us about RM168.65 inclusive of 6% GST.

But the food is fantastic.
Paired with good company,
I had a wonderful night.

I will definitely come back for more!

Facial Time

It's facial time!

I have regular facials and I go to them once a month usually.
During busy periods, i'd go lesser.
But I try not to miss my facials.
I didn't have good skin condition to begin with.
Have been to many places for facials and I am a bit picky when it comes to services. :P
But I really like this place.

I first got to know about this place from Groupon few years back.
I still remember I went there with Jeslyn.
I was still a student back then.
I came to KL to visit baby, so me and Jeslyn decided to try out facial with Groupon.
I bought my first session for only RM38.

Their service was so awesome that we both signed up for a small package that time.
Since I am not based in KL for my studies, I visit them only when I have extra time in KL.
Now that I am working in KL, I made them my regular. :)

ICONE DE BEAUTE

This is roughly how it look like inside.

Currently, I've signed a new package with them on top of my previous package.
They recommended me to do mix treatments.
So I have a few different facial treatments now and they use them on my alternately.
I think it's good for more variety as my face condition is more of a combination skin.

Today, they recommended me an eye treatment.
I was not convinced at first but since she is giving discount for that treatment, I decided to try.
RM180 for one eye treatment.
(Free eye mask)

So she showed me the Radio Frequency (RF) machine used for the eye treatment.
It was said to show instant result.
So she tested on my left eye.
OHMYGAWD.
If it's not because of this treatment, I would not have seen how terrible the skin condition around my eye was.
I acknowledged that I have dark circles and one fine line below my eye.
But she showed me my slightly loose eye lids.
Nooooo!!

After the treatment, I saw instant uplift in my left eye and the dark circles are lightened.
My eye looks less tired.
My beautician, Winnie commented that at this age, dark circles and minor fine lines are common due to excessive use of computers and gadgets.
Therefore we have to start protecting them by applying eye cream.

Have to research on which eye cream to use now!

I signed up for a 5x eye treatment package with them because I saw the result and I super love it.
It's not cheap but it is important to maintain youth before it is all gone.

Another thing to note down,
Winnie commented that my face condition has improved.
Usually during extractions, it felt like hell for me.
I have major whitehead and blackhead problems.
I think it's due to my enlarged pores.
She asked if I changed my products but I did not.

The only difference is that I'm more hardworking in applying my essential oils before sleep.
Let me test longer. Maybe it is the essential oils.

X-Men Apocalypse Movie Premiere

Many thanks to Emily who invited me to be her partner for the X-Men Apocalypse Premiere Screening.

Location: GSC Pavilion
Time: 8.30pm

I rushed off from work and decided to walk to pavilion.
It took me 15 mins to get to Pavillion by foot whereas waze predicted a 20-30 mins drive there. Might as well I walk there, right?
No need to find hunt for parking too.

Met up with Emily and we went to Ichiban Boshi for dinner.
It was my first visit for Pavilion's branch.
I've been to other Ichiban Boshi's outlets and I love their Japanese curry.

I was not very hungry so I ordered a bowl of sashimi salad and one pair of sushi.

6 slices of sashimi and the rest are vegetables.
When combined with their Japanese dressing, oi shi!
It's good.
This cost RM19 ++ if I'm not mistaken

The salmon sushi is mine whereas the mackerel fish sushi belongs to Emily.
The rice here taste different from the sushi I used to have.
It's delicious too.
Price for one set is RM7.

Emily wanted to have ramen and the waiter recommended the half portion to her in view that she is ordering sushi as side.
But the half portion is really small.
RM12.90 and totally not worth it.
If I had this, I am pretty sure I won't feel a thing after this meal.
Hahaha.

Us.
 Ready to watch the movie.
Thank you so much for having me, airen.

Work Trip to Kuching

I was informed less than one week before the actual day that I have to fly to Kuching for UNIMAS Career Fair.
It's my first time flying with a junior.
As the more senior one and I had to organized everything for this trip, from the accommodation to transportation.
Blame myself for never paying attention when I flew the previous times.
We had budget to adhere to so planning the trip wasn't easy.

Tuesday was our traveling day.
Since we were flying in the afternoon, we clocked in to the office first.
At 1pm, the Airport Limo came to pick us up.
By 2pm we were at KLIA2 already.
One way journey to the airport cost us RM77.70.
(Well of course, all expenses can be claimed)

Had to get our precious buntings wrapped.
In case they were thrown around during the transition and broke.
This cost us RM15.90.

We flew by Airasia and it was a bigger flight with 9 seats in a row.
But one thing I dislike about Airasia is the seats.
Super straight and uncomfortable. But the flight was smooth.
We touched down near 6pm and got the taxi driver recommended by the secretary of Sarawak Regional Office.
Stayed in Imperial Hotel which was connected to a mall called Boulevard Mall.

The room is clean and beautiful.
Comfortable too.
My partner, Faye was sick this trip.
So that night, we went to look for food in the mall next door.

Tried some chinese food.
Omg. Faye's porridge was tasteless and my shredded chicken hor fun soup is super salty.
I ended up buying sweet plum potato fries from Shilin and lemon yakult with aloe vera from Ding Tea. 😂
I used to see Ding Tea in KL but I think they are not available in KL anymore.

I was showing my colleague Gaby pictures of the hotel and room and she has to scare me by saying ......

👧🏻 You know, they say ......
👧🏻 you shouldn't take pictures in the room because ........
👧🏻 you may capture .......
👧🏻 or see .........

She didn't even finish the sentences but it's enough to start my wild imaginations.

I went to sleep earlier than Faye because I was so tired.
An hour later, I woke up because I heard noises.

Woke up to see the tv still on and Faye is already asleep.
I off the tv and fall back asleep.
Second time I woke up because the lights are shining into my eye.
Woke up to see the headlights not off.
Half awake, I switched off the lights and fall back asleep.

I woke up for the third time.
This time to pee and I couldn't sleep back because I remember what Gaby said.

I closed my eyes and kept telling myself to sleep.
I slept but I woke up another 3 more times to adjust the temperature as it was too warm for me to sleep.
Didn't dare to lower the temperature drastically since Faye is unwell.

When the dawn break, we both got up feeling like a zombie!

Our first selfie in Kuching!
We're in the cab on our way to UNIMAS at 7am. Seriously, the event only start at 9 and we wanted to be there earlier to set up our booth.
The cab driver told us that there will be jam to go to UNIMAS in the morning so we had to leave the hotel at 7.
True enough, it took us 50 mins to reach our destination.

The roundabouts in Kuching were the culprit.
It was so big that drivers have difficulty getting into the roundabout.

I noticed that Kuching has lots of roundabout.
And they are all very humongous.
Some was so huge that there were shops or houses on the roundabout. 😂

Selfie at the booth!
All ready waiting for the students to come!

The brother came to visit us and even help us to distribute flyers and attract fellow students 😂 Making full use of him there.
After the fair ended, we left for dinner.

It was actually the brother's birthday and he rented a car to fetch us out for dinner.

The side order of mashed potatoes was huge! This cost us rm4.90.

To show how big it actually is, I have another picture.

You see!!
It's okay, I have the brother around 😁

The birthday boy's ribs. Yum meh!
RM 23.90 (so cheap in comparison with KL's ribs)

His gf's cheesy chicken spaghetti.
I forgot to take a picture of my burger and Faye's grilled fish.
Faye's fish is super fresh and soft 😍
I tried all of the food 😝 and of course distributed 3/4 of mine out too.

Then they brought us around town to look at scenery and their unique buildings.
Insufficient time but thankfully I'll be back again in November so I'll just re-visit those places then.

Our last stop before heading back to the hotel.
Gula Apung.
According to le brother, in Kuching, this is their kind of ice-cream.
It's just normal ice-cream with gula melaka and you can choose to have cornflakes or peanut topping. Not expensive.
For this cup it's only RM2.20 and I love it!
I'm so coming back for this.

We were too tired that we requested to be sent home after the ice-cream.

Thanks to the birthday boy, we got to look around Kuching.

Thank you and Happy Birthday, my dearest brother.
The trip hasn't been all easy and comfortable but it felt much better with you around.

Day 3
This time we decided not to leave so early to UNIMAS and we went to the buffet breakfast in the hotel.
I love buffet breakfast in hotel and this one is edible.
Not to say super yummy but it didn't taste bad.

Checked out and left the hotel at 8.35am and we arrived at 9am. 😑
We are still the first few exhibitor there.

To be honest, the respond for this career fair isn't good.
 Our locations weren't strategic.
Feedback to the organizers before we left.
Hope it would be better next time.
We left UNIMAS by 3.45pm to catch our 7pm flight.

Had some time to chill in the airport and we had the secret recipe deals.

Purchase one beverage and get 50% off any slice of cake.

Touched down KLIA2 at 835pm to hear about the flash floods that happened in klang valley 😱😱
so thankful I wasn't on the road today.
I'd be so stressed out.

Baby arranged his schedule to fit my flight schedule.
He came down from Kuantan to pick me up from the airport so that I don't have to take the cab home at night. 😊
So thankful to have him ❤️

Of Sunny Bread and Potato Bun

I was being very ambitious.
Making two types of bread in a night.
Was going back on Friday after work so I actually planned to make some bread for baby and his parents.

I decided to try making the potato bun.

That was my ingredient list and also my recipe. 😂

Method:
1) Boil the potatoes until soft. Then mashed them up. (I mixed the milk in to mashed the potatoes easier)
2) Place all the wet ingredients in the bread maker first. Followed by the dry ingredients. Remember to separate the salt and yeast yea!
3) Set to the dough mode and press start! 😁
After the dough is completed, take them out and divide them into 15 small buns.
I didn't know how to estimate so I made it into 11 buns which were quite big. 😝
the dough was abit wet, so I covered my hands with a layer of flour so that the dough won't be too sticky.

Let the dough rise until it's double the original size before brushing butter on top of the bun.
Lastly, add cheese on the bun.
In my case, I used Parmesan cheese.
But this is optional. I added it due to personal preference.

Bake at 190 degree for 25 mins.

My oven seemed to have uneven heat. So I actually took the buns out and change the tray's direction.

Oh.. While I let my buns rise earlier, I make full use of my bread machine and dumped in another batch of ingredients for sunny bread.

This recipe is from a Facebook group by Mandy Ng.

Back to the bun.
After it was completed, I went to bed 😂
Was too tired to wait for the sunny bread to be ready. I actually set alarm to wake up at 1.30am to take the bread out of the bread machine.

Super ambitious, I know. I was really tired on Friday. 😂 Consequences of being so motivated to bake.

Cut the sunny bread in the morning before I left for work. Quickly packed the bread too.

It was a success!
My colleagues love the bread. Especially the potato bread. I'm so gonna make it again.

There goes my first attempt on another two new recipe. 😁
